Painting for hope

My name is Makenna, I'm a junior at Visitation School. Over the past year, I have discovered my love for painting. I have found it to be a therapeutic way to express myself and quiet my mind.Through my journey, I decided to share my work with others by selling it. I have also learned about my own experiences with disordered eating habits and am looking for a way to help those who share those struggles. Thus, PaintED was born as a way to do what I love and contribute to efforts that will help others affected by disordered eating.

Eating disorders are more common than most people realize. 28.8 million Americans experience at least one form of disordered eating throughout their life with one person dying every 52 minutes from complications related to eating disorders  (Eating Disorder Statistics). The four most common disorders include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge-eating disorders, and avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID). Eating disorders affect not only the person with disordered eating but our families, friends, and communities. PaintED is committed to "Painting for Hope" to help these organizations focused on eating disorder rehabilitation.
